**URGENT! PD NEEDS OUT ASAP. SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 3/13/10**
PD is an unaltered male GSP. The shelter says he's tall with a thinner build. He does seem to want ot look for birds, but it's unknown if he's really a hunter. He was found as a stray and does not like being in a kennel, so he paces, which makes him seem "high energy." He was great when taken outdoors for a walk, good on a leash and calm when taken out. He liked going out for the walk.
PLEASE HELP THIS BOY! He is up for EUTHANASIA on 3/13/10.
For more information about PD, contact call Lassen County Animal Control at (530) 257-9200 and reference Pet ID #7008

**URGENT! CASE NEEDS OUT ASAP. SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 3/13/10**
Case is a male liver and white GSP who was surrendered to the shelter because his owner was not able to keep him safe. Case is around 5 years old. His owner said that he gets along with everyone, including children and other pets. He also said that Case is gun shy and would make a great pet.
For more information about him, call Lassen County Animal Control at (530) 257-9200 and reference Pet ID #7009

Rosie is an unaltered female liver and white GSP estimated to be about 7 years old. She has been at the shelter since 02/23/2010.
Shelter staff says she is a nice GSP, was timid when meeting new dogs, but was not interested in cats. They recommend placement with children ages 8 and up. She is a nice girl that would benefit from a little training and TLC.
For more information about her, call Sonoma County Animal Control at (707) 565-7100 and reference Pet ID #A017103

Mercy is a lady of a certain age (she’s about 10) looking for a home of her own. This 60 pound sweetheart would love to join you in your routine. Since she’s on the mature side, she’d prefer a home without too many stairs. Mercy enjoys being with her people and gets along well with other dogs.

The things people will do to a dog, it is a shame. Candace was left an outdoor-only shelter, where the chilly nights must have felt extra cold for this very skinny girl. Our vet estimates her to be 12 or 13 years old. But now Candace is getting extra meals and care in her foster home – she’s turning out to be a sweet, calm, easy-going girl.
We are hoping that someone with a soft spot for the oldies will find it in their hearts to give Candace a home and spoil her for the rest of her days. She gets along well with other dogs and is becoming a bit playful now that she’s getting enough food. Candace is house-trained and enjoys short leisurely walks.

Colt is a 7 – 8 year old sweet dude. He’s well-mannered and likes the outdoors. We don’t know his history, but we’re guessing he wasn’t always treated kindly – he’s a little afraid in new situations and worries if other dogs get in his face. What he’d really enjoy is a brisk walk with you, whether you’re a city-dweller or have lots of space, knowing that he can rely on you to keep him safe and secure. Any kids in the home should be 13 or older.

Pebbles came to us with severely bruised ribs, so perhaps she had been kicked or hit in her past - she’s also quite timid. Now she’s safely in her foster home and recuperating from the sore ribs and bronchitis. Her forever home will want to help her forget all about her past!
At 51 pounds, Pebbles is thin for her size and has some eating to do. She’s estimated to be 2 – 4 years old. She’ll be ready to start meeting potential adopters the end of March.

Robin is an older gal with spunk. We’re guessing she’s in the 9 or 10 year old range. She’s about 56 pounds and has some wear-and-tear on her, and now she’s in search of a warm and friendly home that wants to spoil her. She’s crate-trained and already knows some commands.
Update 3-7-10. Robin has a lump on her elbow that was originally thought to be a hygroma, but with further evaluation/aspiration it was identified as a soft-tissue sarcoma. These type of tumor tend to enlarge, but fortunately don’t usually metastasize (spread). The elbow is a tricky location to make sure all of the tumor is removed, and we would like to remove it before it gets bigger and more locally invasive. Robin’s foster mom is prepared to do the necessary post-surgical care and follow-up. Please help us help Robin by donating to her Medical Fund. Every dollar helps!

Our foster families normally donate the cost of feeding their foster dog(s). But in these trying economic times, we have foster families who are out of work and money is tight, or just having trouble making ends meet. They are happy to continue to provide a loving foster home for one or more foster dogs but are struggling with the cost of dog food.
Can you help? Please let us know if you can:
Provide a large bag of good quality dog food to a drop point in the Sac area or the SF Bay Area, and/or
Provide a gift card to one of the larger pet food stores such as PetSmart, PetCo, PetFoodExpress, and/or
Provide a Costco gift card, and/or
Provide a monetary donation (via Paypal or by mail to PO Box 933, Menlo Park, CA 94026).

Bowdie is an 8 year old dude looking for love. He likely didn’t get a lot of human attention before because he’s sure enjoying it now. It doesn’t appear that he’s had much training but he’s very responsive to people. Bowdie views most objects as toys and challenges, and gives them a good working over! He enjoys the outdoors, playing with other dogs, and playing catch.
Bowdie is a good candidate for the working family – he enjoys being outside during the day, is well-mannered on the leash, and doesn’t require as much exercise as a younger GSP. He’s on the smaller side for a male at around 55 pounds. Maybe you are the family he’s been looking for?

Axel is a 2 to 3 year-old energetic young male GSP! We don’t know much about his past, but we are looking for the right person or family for his future.
Him: Axel loves playing ball, running, and most of all, being with you. He’s handsome and athletic. He’s struggling with some demons from his past and now he guards food and toys. He needs time and TLC to trust again.
You: You will have a firm and loving approach, an active lifestyle without a lot of chaos, and be able to follow through with recommendations about his behavior. Your home will have adults or adults and teenager, and no other pets. You won’t feel that you are depriving Axel because he’s not able to go to the dog park – you’d rather take him for a run or toss the ball for him in your yard.

Dennis the Menace is a 2 - 3 year old neutered male pointer. He is very playful, gets along great with other dogs, and loves to cuddle. He's smart, loves to play fetch, enjoys following his humans around, and is so well-behaved in the house. We often wonder if Denny is smarter than we are – the things he can think of to do when he has time on his hands! He’ll need someone who can stay one step ahead of him!
Since Denny is too enticed by cats and small furry creatures, he’ll do better without them around. He has a strong prey drive - he is great at catching mice under the deck, digging up moles and catching flies in the house! Since he can be overly exuberant, we are recommending that any children in the home be at least 13. His dream home would have another dog with a similar energy level, people who will take him to training class, and a secure yard where the landscape doesn’t mind a little digging.

Doogie Bowser is a mature gentleman GSP who is estimated to be over 10ish. He would love to once again be in a loving home. He's receiving much-needed TLC in his foster home and is flourishing. Doogie is good on the leash and is appreciative of the finer things such as a comfy chair!
This sweet boy would love to be a member of your family. He’s great with dogs, cats, and kids. Well-mannered children should be 6 or older. Come meet him today! Check out his video!

Dot Calm is an approximately 6 - 7 year old female who has a wonderful disposition! She loves people - if you’re looking for a great companion, Dot’s the one that you want. She is eager to please, and loves to run and play ball! She enjoys one or two 45 minute walks per day and does not need as much exercise as a young GSP.
Dot will do best as an only dog in an experienced home willing to work on training. Children 10 and up, has not been tested with cats.

Grace has had a rough life so far. The vet told us she hadn’t been receiving good care, and that’s probably why she looks older than she is. Not only that, her old eye injury was most likely caused by being hit by a car, which may have been the beginning of her hernia problem as well.
With a new year come new possibilities for Grace. With surgery behind her and her activity restriction lifted, she is looking for a home that can give her the love and care she needs. She’s the kind of dog that’s appreciative of your attention, yet she’s also content being in her crate. Grace has a wag in her tail and a bit of curiosity in her nose!
Grace’s story: Grace ended up at the shelter with a huge lump and a wayward eye, and was not in very good condition. The shelter contacted us to see if we might be able to help – without surgery, Grace would be euthanized soon. The lump, thankfully not a tumor, turned out to be a hernia with her bladder and uterus slipping through it, and she was suffering from a urinary tract infection as well. Grace is only 6 – 8 years old and has many good years to go, and we thought she deserved a chance. We raised funds towards her surgery with your help. The surgery was a success, and she was able to go to her foster home the week before Christmas. Her eye was evaluated and does not need any special care. Her total bill was $653, so any help you can give Grace would still be greatly appreciated, we’ve raised $213 thus far. Please donate to Grace’s Medical Fund – every dollar helps!

Triton is a wonderful, fabulous dog who weighs 83 pounds and is approximately 7 years old. He is great with other dogs, cats, and has been around chickens and left them alone. This boy loves to be loved and does not miss his share of hugs and petting. He loves to be with you and is housebroken. He is a good watchdog and is very well behaved in the house. He walks well on a leash and loves to go for walks. He really loves to go with you in the car or truck. If you open the door, he will jump right in. Anyone would be lucky to have such a great guy like Triton. He also has been around young children and is great with them as well. He is PPIEW!! (Practically Perfect In Every Way)
What a wonderful addition to your family!

Nutmeg (or Meg as she is affectionately called) was abandoned at a local shelter in very bad condition. It appears someone used her to make many many puppies and then deserted her when she was no longer needed. She is gaining weight and has some dry skin - both are improving each day in her foster home with good food and TLC. Despite this rough past, Meg is a happy and affectionate girl who loves everyone she meets. Meg is estimated to be 6 - 7 years old and has lots and lots of energy and love to share - in fact, her foster home wonders if she might be younger. She likes all dogs, especially those that like to play back, but she's not pushy with those who do not want to play. She has a very strong prey drive and would probably not be good with smaller pets, birds or rodents, etc. Meg is housebroken and has good house manners. She is still learning leash manners but does know how to sit and is a very fast learner! Meg has the sweetest face, the kindest eyes and mushy lips which she likes to smack together in a silly manner. She would be a wonderful addition to any home...maybe it is your home?
1-27-10 Nutmeg had to undergo emergency surgery because of a twisted stomach leading to bloat. Fortunately her foster mom was observant that she was in pain and not acting normally, and her quick action saved Nutmeg’s life. However, this unanticipated and large expense has strained our reserves, and we are hoping that you kind-hearted people will once again open your wallets to help. Her bill for the past two days is over $3000, and we appreciate each and every dollar you can give.
Please donate to Nutmeg’s Medical Fund – every dollar helps!

Franky is a beautiful 5 to 6 year-old male GSP. He is one gorgeous boy, with a soft, rich solid liver-colored coat. When Franky runs, it is effortless and glorious to watch. He is sleek, tall, lanky, and very handsome. Franky is wonderful with other dogs, housetrained, crate trained, great in the car, and knows basic commands. He loves people and other dogs, and he’d do well with an active lifestyle or a big yard to call his own. Franky is 63 pounds and could benefit from a couple more. He is very food-motivated and willing to please!
No small dogs, please.
Has not tested with cats. Children in the home should be 6 or older.

Rocket, came to us from Noah’s Friends when their director became ill and Rocket fell into depression without her daily visits - they were concerned that he would continue in a downward spiral. This social 7 year old GSP loves people and is seeking a family of his own. Passed over for younger dogs, he’d like everyone to know that 7 is the new 5!
Rocket likes to ride in the car, go for walks, hang out with people of all ages, and pal around with other dogs. He ignores cats and is a little enthusiastic on the leash. Rocket has many good years of love to give – do you have room in your heart for him?
Respectful children should be six and up.

Roscoe is a large 7 year-old sweet handsome boy. He has endless amounts of energy and needs a lot of exercise. He loves to be with people and he is completely trained - his foster home tells us he knows all the commands! Roscoe is dog friendly and absolutely loves his 4 month old GSP sister. Roscoe is crate-trained and likes to rest in his crate. And we hear he's a perfect gentleman in the car!
